catholic schools' week 2021

GREAT ARTICLE FOR PARENTS!

The Wall Street Journal had a great article on Catholic Schools!.

Catholic Schools Are Beating Covid

We invite our grandparents to open this YouTube link as part of our virtual GRANDPARENTS' DAY...... and other members of the community ...to be part of this celebration!

DEAR GRANDPARENTS......

DEAR GRANDPARENTS......

DEAR GRANDPARENTS......

If you look at the school calendar, you can see that Wednesday, February 3   was scheduled to be the special day for OLH Grandparents...the day when we proudly open our doors to you in the hopes that you will see firsthand the special place where your grandchild is learning about faith, academics ....and him/herself!

The ramifications of Covid 19 are far-reaching and prevent our being together this year, but we are trying to find a way to re-imagine the day when we can meet, share a cup of tea, and have some OLH entertainment.

We have been able to hold in-person learning every day this year, and look forward to the day when we “return to normal”. We know that so many of our children are here because of YOU..... emotionally, physically and financially.

We THANK YOU for the trust that you place in this Catholic school and ask your continued prayers for what we believe is a bright...and challenging future!

May the Lord bless you now and always!

Sister Kathy

A SPECIAL SALUTE

As part of the health and safety protocols in place each day is the mandatory checking of temperatures. Teachers man each  community's entrance for this procedure each day.

MRS. TERESA DREW

a registered nurse, mother of 13 chlldren (all OLH grads), grandmother of  6 OLH grads and 4 current students, volunteered her services as a " temperature checker" and has been at the prep door every day since September.

(She has now headed south for vacation)

We thank Mrs. Drew during this Catholic Schools' Week and offer our prayers of gratitude  and appreciation!

(Mrs. Drew is pictured here checking on her granddaughter, Ella Reese of grade 2)

  • My Catholic education was the best I could have asked for and my daughter loves it too....................................
  • The love, compassion and strength she shows the OLH family is the most special gift we've ever received!
  • I had a math teacher  taught in a way that made me really enjoy and understand math. She later wrote my high school recommendations.
  • Kindergarten Mrs. Crabtree-Told my Mom I was already extremely smart and bossy (a delegator) and had future leadership qualities.
  • the high school teacher who would dare us to finish a project and deliver it even when everyone else may be sleeping.
  •  Mrs. Zirgibel was a special person. She had one arm, the other was lost in an accident as a kid, but could do anything from painting to drawing, pottery...she was incredible.
  • Brother kelly was an ex detective who became a Franciscan brother . He was one of my high school teachers. One tuff cookie, but was really helpful to me throughout high school.
  • Sister Phyllis inspired me to study history, and to become a teacher. She was so down to earth and kind, I’ll never forget her!
  •  all of our teachers...they demanded excellence, taught us perseverance and pride in our work and gave us all the skills to succeed wherever we went after OLH.
  • I had the same teacher in 1st grade, 3rd grade and 4th grade....Mrs. Reader! She was the best and loved our class as much as we loved her.
